Shortly after he was born, Dan’s family moved to Slovakia. He studied at German and Slovak schools. In 1939 he joined the “Hashomer Hatzair” movement. In 1942, with his wife Hanna, he moved to Hungary. He dealt with the forgery of documents. In June 1944 he moved to Romania, stayed for about two months in Arad in order to organize the reception of the tiyul fugitives from the other side of the border.
Dan made aliya in August 1944 and joined Kibbutz Ha’ogen. In 1949, while serving in the IDF, he became blind after an explosion that occurred during an experiment with explosives. Being blind, Dan studied chemistry in the USA. He was the manager of the laboratory in “Ha’ogenplast”, a rubber factory in his kibbutz and served as the manager of the rubber institute of the Technion.
Dan resided in Ra’anana.
